Joseph H. ★★★★★

I'd read this dozens of times as a kid, and rediscovering it now I'm struck by how the wild rumpus pages still feel so alive. My daughter stares at the illustrations long after we finish. A deserving Caldecott winner.

Claire O. ★★★★★

The illustrations still hold up beautifully after fifty years, and my daughter traces the monsters' horns with her finger every night. Paperback feels sturdy enough for how often we reread it, which is a lot.

Sebastian ★★★★★

The Caldecott-winning illustrations still hold up beautifully, and the wild rumpus spread is my toddler's favorite page to point at. Paperback feels sturdy enough for how roughly he handles it.
