My newborn actually focuses on the bold black-and-white patterns, and the pages have survived drool and crinkling without tearing. It's perfect for early visual stimulation.
The contrast on these pages is so strong that my newborn's eyes lock right in during tummy time. I've washed one after a spit-up incident and it came out looking brand new, which is honestly a relief.
My 3-month-old actually tracks the black and white patterns on these pages, which surprised me since she usually looks away from other books. The sounds theme gives me something to narrate during tummy time, and it's surviving her chewing so far.
